The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four lawmakers for six months over an alleged plot to impeach Speaker Aondona Dajoh.
Those suspended include Alfred Berger, representing Makurdi North; Terna Shimawua of Kian; Cyril Ekong of Obi; and James Umoru of Apa constituency.
The suspension followed a motion of urgent importance raised by the Majority Leader, Saater Tiseer, who accused the lawmakers of attempting to destabilize the assembly with an unnecessary crisis.
Acting on the motion, Speaker Dajoh directed the Sergeant-at-Arms to escort the suspended members out of the chambers.
