Al-Ahli clinched the Saudi Arabia Super Cup after a dramatic 2-2 draw with Al-Nassr, eventually prevailing 5-3 on penalties in Riyadh.
The star-studded clash lived up to its billing as Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring for Al-Nassr with a trademark strike. Franck Kessié quickly responded for Al-Ahli, before Marcelo Brozović restored the lead for Al-Nassr. However, Roger Ibañez equalized once again, sending the tie into a tense penalty shootout.
In the shootout, Al-Ahli were flawless, converting all five of their attempts through Ivan Toney, Kessié, Riyad Mahrez, Firas Al-Buraikan, and Galeno.
Al-Nassr faltered when Abdullah Al-Khaibari missed, after Ronaldo, Brozović, and João Félix had scored.
The victory handed Al-Ahli the Super Cup crown, while Ronaldo still etched his name deeper into football history becoming the first player ever to score 100 or more goals for four different clubs: Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al-Nassr.
