Victor Boniface’s move to AC Milan has been put on hold after the Nigerian striker failed to get medical clearance, forcing him to return to Bayer Leverkusen.
The 24-year-old underwent two days of tests at La Madonnina clinic and Galeazzi Hospital in Milan, but concerns over his injury history stalled the deal.
Boniface suffered two cruciate ligament tears at Bodø/Glimt in 2019 and has battled recurring muscle problems.
Italian-born transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the setback, saying, “After medical tests at AC Milan, Victor Boniface returns to Germany, as there’s still no green light to his move. After 48 hours in Milano, Boniface will be back in Leverkusen today, waiting for AC Milan’s imminent decision on his medical tests/checks made over the weekend.”
The agreement between both clubs includes a €5 million loan fee with a €24 million option to buy, but Milan are adopting a cautious approach until final medical results are reviewed.
