Popular Nigerian cleric and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, Johnson Suleman, has sparked debate after stating that oral sex between a husband and wife is not sinful.
The remarks were made during a question-and-answer session at one of the church’s services, a video of which was uploaded to YouTube on 22 August 2025. It remains unclear when the service was held.
In the clip, a woman appeared to read a question from her notebook: “Daddy, Sir, is oral sex a sin?” Church members murmured, and Mr Suleman chuckled before addressing the congregation.
Anything you do with your wife indoors is not a sin. As long as she is your wife and both of you agree, it is not sinful,
” he stated, prompting further murmurs among worshippers.
He further referenced scripture, saying,
When the Bible talks about the wife of your youth, it refers to ‘go within thy walls, let thy hands pass through her cisterns.’ As long as it’s not fetish, ritual, or diabolic, it is not a sin.”
Suleman also addressed criticisms from some Christians who argue that oral sex is wrong because the mouth is used to worship God. “Don’t you use the same mouth to gossip? Don’t you use it to tell lies?” he asked rhetorically in Pidgin English.
Acknowledging the potential backlash, Mr Suleman added, “Many will criticise me for this, but I am not perturbed. Save your home, save your home,” urging couples to consider their spouse’s requests in private.
The comments have already generated heated discussion online, with opinions sharply divided over the cleric’s unorthodox stance on marital intimacy.
