Ahead of the August 30, 2025 council elections, Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi has set up three Local Government Election Tribunals to ensure swift resolution of electoral disputes arising from the polls, each bench led by senior magistrates and covering Rivers East, South East, and West senatorial districts.

Justice Amadi, acting under the Rivers State Local Government Election Tribunals Law, No. 3 of 2000 (as amended), appointed as chairmen Chief Magistrates Kilsi Giadom (Rivers East), Harry Sotonye Linda (South East), and Chimenem B. Okekem (West). Rivers East’s panel members are Promise Green and Christian John-Jaja, with Rivers South East’s comprising Anthony Enyinda and Azubuike Georgewill, and Rivers West’s composed of Israel Dagogo Israel and Ala Atonibere.

The Chief Judge assured appointees their swearing-in would be formalized within the week and affirmed the courts’ readiness to receive petitions once polls conclude. These tribunals play a vital role in upholding due process and maintaining electoral integrity in Rivers State amid heightened political interest in the council elections.
