Former First Lady Patience Jonathan has firmly ruled out any possibility of returning to the Presidential Villa, saying the current challenges facing Nigeria have left her with no desire to re-enter the corridors of power.
Speaking in an interview quoted by The Guardian, Mrs Jonathan stressed that her priority now is peace of mind, not politics.
“The distress of Nigeria is so much that if God manages to bring you out of it, you should glorify Him,” she said. “Why do you want to go back there? I need peace. My peace is enough.”
Her comments come amid growing speculation that her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, may make a political comeback in the 2027 presidential election.
Only recently, presidential aide Bayo Onanuga warned Jonathan against heeding calls to run again, reminding him of his 2015 electoral loss.
Although reports suggest the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may consider him as a potential candidate, Jonathan has not publicly declared his intention to contest.
