Rivers United got their home campaign underway with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kwara United, a match that showcased both tactical discipline and determination. Technical Manager Finidi George credited his side’s aggressive first-half performance and strong fan support for the result. “We were more aggressive in the first 45 minutes created some half chances, kept the momentum,” Finidi told reporters.

However, he expressed concern over his team’s second-half display, noting Rivers United lost some rhythm and failed to convert additional chances that might have sealed the win. Despite missing key players and facing a deep-sitting opponent, the team’s composure and ability to manage narrow leads were crucial. “The result calms everyone and gives us confidence moving forward,” Finidi added, thanking supporters and emphasizing that the squad remains focused on challenging for the title.

Rivers United, now with four points, move up the table as fans look forward to the next tough away fixture.
