The Athletics Federation of Nigeria has confirmed a robust roster for the Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships, scheduled for September 13–21 at Japan National Stadium. Headlining the squad are Tobi Amusan, world record holder in the 100m hurdles, and Olympic long jump medalist Ese Brume. Joining them are rising star Nathaniel Ezekiel in the 400m hurdles and versatile sprinter Kayinsola Ajayi.
Seven women and eight men will represent Nigeria across 11 events, reflecting depth and ambition in both sprints and field disciplines. AFN President Tonobok Okowa assured that the team selection was strictly merit-driven, aligning with global standards and reflecting the nation’s progress in track and field. “We believe in their ability to make Nigeria proud and assure ongoing support for their development,” Okowa said, praising coaches and stakeholders.
The squad’s goal is to build on recent successes as competition heats up on the world stage in Tokyo.
