
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accused opposition parties of dragging the All Progressives Congress (APC) into premature political campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that his administration remains focused on governance.
“In the political environment, is we are being drawn into early political activities from our rival political parties but whichever way it is, I am not distracted I am solidly focused, focused on what is ahead. Politics will happen at a given time,” Tinubu said on Wednesday during a meeting with North East governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
On security, the President commended the role of the civilian JTF in the North East and said he is considering discussions with the National Assembly on state police.
“Politics apart we can discourse with the National Assembly leadership to really look at critical part… provide the additional safety buffer and effectiveness in the area,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the governors, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, pledged their support for the President and outlined key demands, including sustained military operations, funding for the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), completion of major road and rail projects, and the resumption of oil exploration in Kolmani and Lake Chad.
