The Gombe State Police Command says it has deployed adequate personnel and resources across the state to ensure a peaceful, hitch-free Maulud celebration and procession.
In a statement on Friday, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said the deployment, approved by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, covers all identified venues, procession routes, and other strategic locations.
He noted that the arrangement includes conventional police officers, tactical teams, intelligence units, and operational equipment.
“The command has made robust security arrangements to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the celebration,” Abdullahi’s statement partly read.
The police reminded residents that the ban on carrying weapons in public gatherings remains in force, warning that violators will be arrested and prosecuted.
The command also restated that the restriction on motorcycle movement between 7 pm and 6 am remains in place to curb crime and maintain public order.
The command further advised procession organisers, religious leaders, and stakeholders to take full responsibility for the conduct of their members, ensure compliance with security directives, and cooperate with security operatives throughout the celebration.
The Commissioner of Police urged residents to be law-abiding, report suspicious movements, and avoid actions capable of disrupting public peace.
While felicitating with the Muslim faithful on the occasion of Maulud, the command assured residents of its commitment to sustaining peace and security across the state.
Maulud, the annual commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), is widely celebrated across northern Nigeria with processions, prayers, and community gatherings.
past years, such celebrations have occasionally witnessed security concerns, including clashes, road accidents, and opportunistic crimes. This has prompted security agencies to step up preventive measures ahead of the event.
In Gombe State, the police have consistently deployed personnel and resources to ensure the peaceful observance of religious festivals.
The state’s security architecture often combines conventional policing with intelligence-led operations and collaboration with community leaders to maintain order during large gatherings.
