The Nigeria Customs Service has appointed Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku as the first female Area Controller of its Port Harcourt Area I Command, marking a milestone in the Service’s drive for inclusivity and transformational leadership.

The Port Harcourt Area I Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has welcomed Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku as its new Customs Area Controller. Her appointment, announced through a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Customs II, Barilule Aanee, underscores the agency’s commitment to excellence and gender inclusivity in leadership.
Comptroller Atuluku officially assumed office on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Customs Processing Centre in Port Harcourt.

She succeeds Comptroller Mustapha Hashim, who, in his farewell address, reflected on the achievements recorded during his tenure.
Hashim highlighted notable gains in revenue generation, noting that collections rose from ₦11.8 billion when he took over in October 2023 to ₦116.5 billion by the end of that year, a 26.18% increase over 2022 figures.

The new leadership at the Command is expected to build on these achievements while driving enhanced operational efficiency, stakeholder engagement, and trade facilitation.
