Verve, Africa’s leading domestic payments card scheme and a subsidiary of The Interswitch Group, has announced Google Play as a strategic partner for the eighth edition of VerveLife (8.0), Africa’s biggest and most celebrated fitness event series.

This partnership, which extends Verve’s evolving collaboration with the Google ecosystem, is aimed at delivering more rewarding lifestyle experiences for fitness enthusiasts across the continent. It reflects the shared vision of both brands in promoting healthier, more fulfilling lifestyles for millions of Africans, the partners stated in a statement on Tuesday.

Launched eight years ago, VerveLife has grown into Verve’s flagship lifestyle and consumer engagement platform, reshaping fitness and wellness culture across Africa. With over 14,000 participants annually across West and East Africa, the initiative has become one of the continent’s most significant fitness platforms.

Each edition features high-intensity workout sessions, dance routines, and fitness challenges led by top instructors. The activities culminate in a vibrant after-party where participants celebrate wellness and community in an atmosphere of fun and energy.

Speaking on the partnership, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Communications at Interswitch Group, Cherry Eromosele, said VerveLife 8.0 promises to raise the bar higher than ever.

“We are thoroughly thrilled to take VerveLife to new heights this year, building on the success of our previous editions. Our latest collaboration with Google Play reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences that resonate deeply with fitness enthusiasts across Africa,” Eromosele said.

She added that participants can look forward to exclusive complimentary merchandise, exciting rewards, and special incentives courtesy of Verve and Google Play during the grand finale on November 1, 2025.

Verve first partnered with Google in July 2023, enabling Nigerians to use Verve cards to make purchases on the Google Play Store and YouTube. That development simplified digital transactions and strengthened Nigeria’s digital ecosystem, ensuring more inclusive access to apps, content, and services for millions of Android users.

Commenting on the latest partnership, Head of Retail and Payment Partnerships at Google Play, Anthea Crawford, said, “This collaboration not only simplifies payment for Google Play apps and services but also contributes to building a more inclusive digital environment for Nigerians.”

The VerveLife 8.0 fitness train will tour several African cities before its grand finale: Enugu – August 30, 2025; Ibadan – September 13, 2025; Abuja – September 27, 2025; Kampala, Uganda – October 2025 (second time); and Nairobi, Kenya – October 2025 (third time)

The tour will culminate at the Eko Convention Center, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, with the biggest fitness celebration on the continent.

This year’s edition, themed “Elev8”, reflects Verve’s commitment to pushing boundaries in fitness, lifestyle, and wellness. Through innovative partnerships, engaging activities, and a strong community spirit, VerveLife continues to champion healthy living while rewarding its cardholders and fitness enthusiasts.

As anticipation builds, participants in Nigeria, Kenya, and Uganda can expect another memorable fitness party that blends health, music, fun, and community at Africa’s ultimate wellness event.
