The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has held an online meeting with participating clubs ahead of this weekend’s CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup fixtures, with 71 clubs from across the continent in attendance.

Chaired by ACA President, Eng. Hersi Said, the session focused on critical matters, including the much-anticipated solidarity funds and competition logistics. CAF clarified that each club will receive an initial amount of USD 50,000 before the start of the qualifying round. Clubs eliminated before reaching the group stage will receive an additional USD 50,000, bringing their total to USD 100,000.

For clubs advancing to the group stage, the financial incentives increase significantly. In the CAF Confederation Cup, clubs stand to earn up to USD 400,000, while in the CAF Champions League, the figure could rise to as much as USD 700,000. The continental football body also outlined the documentation process, disbursement procedures, and rules governing the proper use of these funds to ensure fairness and accountability.

In the coming days, the African Clubs Association (ACA) will begin the official registration of all clubs across the continent, an administrative milestone aimed at strengthening transparency and efficiency in financial management.

This development comes as clubs prepare for the intensity of Africa’s most prestigious inter-club competitions, with financial backing expected to support logistics, player welfare, and operational needs.
