U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled the ‘Trump Gold Card,’ a new visa program priced at $1 million per individual, offering wealthy foreigners a fast-track path to permanent residency and, potentially, citizenship.
President Donald Trump introduced the “Trump Gold Card,” an unprecedented visa initiative designed to attract affluent immigrants to the United States while generating billions for the federal treasury. The card, now available for purchase at $1 million for individuals and $2 million for corporations seeking to sponsor employees, grants holders lawful permanent resident status as either EB-1 or EB-2 visa holders following a rigorous background check and vetting process by the Department of Homeland Security.
The card itself is adorned with Trump’s portrait, the Statue of Liberty, and the American flag on a gold background and will offer its bearers a pathway to U.S. citizenship. “For far too long, we have had millions of illegal aliens pouring into our country, and our immigration system was broken. It is beyond time that the American people, and American taxpayers, are benefitting from our legal immigration system,”
Trump said in a statement posted to social media. Interested applicants will need to submit documentation and a nonrefundable processing fee through the official trumpcard.gov website. Once approved, the Gold Card will allow the holder to reside in all U.S. states and territories.
As part of a broader overhaul of the immigration system, Trump also announced the forthcoming ‘Trump Platinum Card,’ offering broader benefits including up to 270 days of residency per year without U.S. tax on foreign income with a $5 million contribution. The administration projects over $100 billion in revenue from the programs, earmarked for deficit reduction, lower taxes, and economic development.
While supporters praise the move as a way to prioritize legal, skilled immigration and boost government revenue, critics label it a “pay-to-play” scheme that further privileges the wealthy over other would-be immigrants. Nevertheless, Trump’s allies say the plan combines immigration reform with fiscal responsibility in a manner never before attempted by a U.S. president.
