Katsina’s most feared bandit kingpin, Kachalla Ummaru, has spat fire at security forces, warning that bullets won’t end banditry.

“If today you kill 10 bandits, tomorrow you’ll see 20… you kill 20, another 30 will rise both in our bushes and villages,” he declared during peace talks in Matazu LGA.

Ummaru accused the government of chasing profit, not peace.

“Truth be told, the government doesn’t care about anyone, all it’s after is how to generate money.”

He slammed residents for snitching to security operatives, mocking reports of “fake kills” in the bush.

And to the Danmusa DPO, he gave a serious warning, saying, “It would be shameful if you come to us for something and we don’t do it for you… and shameful if we come to you and you don’t do it for us.”

The meeting, called to end bloodshed in Katsina, came days after 28 abductees were freed in Faskari under a fragile peace deal.

But with Ummaru’s threat reverberating, peace looks as shaky as ever.
