Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday evening paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
It was Fubara’s first official appearance at the State House since his dramatic reinstatement after six months of emergency rule in Rivers State.
The governor, who arrived alone at about 6:20 p.m., headed straight to the President’s office.
Though details of his visit were not made public at press time, sources at the presidency say that the governor came in person to thank the president for ending the emergency rule in the oil-rich state.
Recall that in a statewide broadcast after his reinstatement, Fubara had said he remained “eternally grateful” to Tinubu for intervening in the crisis.
Fubara, his deputy, and members of the State House of Assembly were suspended from office on March 18, 2025, following political unrest in the state. President Tinubu lifted the suspension and ended the emergency rule on September 17, 2025.
