The United States has dropped a serious warning on Nigeria’s political class, declaring that any government official caught in corruption will be slapped with a visa ban.
“Fighting corruption knows no borders or limits on accountability. Even when high-profile individuals engage in corruption, they can be barred from receiving US visas,” the US Mission declared in a post on X Monday.
Washington has issued similar threats in the past, targeting Nigerian politicians accused of rigging elections and undermining democracy.
This latest hammer comes as outrage grows over the looting of public funds and abuse of office across the country.
