The governor expressed satisfaction with the project’s quality and progress, noting that it would alleviate congestion in the city centre and mitigate flooding along Gashua Road.
“I am happy with the quality and speed of work on the flyover project; the contractors have so far lived up to expectations, with strict adherence to the contractual agreements.
When completed, this would greatly reduce the problem of congestion here at the city centre as well as the menace of floods into houses along the major roads, ” Buni said.
I am happy with the quality and speed of work on the project; the contractors have so far lived up to expectations, with strict adherence to the contractual agreement.
“We have a lot of agricultural communities that are always challenged with the difficulties of moving their farm produce to Damaturu, where there is a huge market. This road would provide a solution to the age-long difficulties faced by the communities.
“I am glad the contractor has completed the earth work and commenced the overlay,” Buni noted.
The project is part of the Buni administration’s infrastructure development initiatives in Damaturu, which include remodelling roundabouts, constructing roads, building a modern motorpark, and developing drainage and waterway systems.
The N22.3 billion contract for the flyover was signed between the Yobe State Government and Merss Triacta Nigeria Limited, with the state’s Commissioner for Works, Umar Duddaye, and Habib Geojea, representing the contracting firm, signing the agreement in February, 2025.
This project is considered a valuable investment for the state’s growth and development.
