Two people have been confirmed dead and another injured following a midnight gun attack on a Fulani settlement near Osara Dam in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The incident, which occurred around 3 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, sent residents fleeing into nearby bushes as about ten armed assailants stormed the area, firing sporadically.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the attack in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, describing it as part of the ongoing wave of rural violence in the North-Central region.

According to local sources, the attackers shot and killed two residents identified as Idris Isyaku (50) and Abdulrazaq Jimoh (40). Another victim, Alhaji Tashi Isyaku, suffered severe machete wounds and was rushed to the NIOMCO Hospital, before being referred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Lokoja, for further treatment.

Residents say the motive behind the assault remains unclear, though similar incidents have been linked to clashes between armed herders and criminal gangs operating around the area.

Security operatives have since been deployed to the scene, and efforts are ongoing to track down the gunmen and restore calm to the community.

Authorities have also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to the nearest security post as investigations continue.
