Rivers politics took a reconciliatory twist on Saturday as FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and Governor Siminalayi Fubara met face-to-face with Rivers elders in Port Harcourt.

The high-powered gathering, which included Speaker Martins Amaewhule and Elders Council Chairman, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba, was touted as a peace move after months of bitter political warfare.

Sharing photos from the meeting, Wike’s aide Lere Olayinka declared on X, “The political family is fully united.”

But insiders remain cautious, as no details of the resolutions were made public.

Fubara, reinstated on September 18 after a six-month state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu, appears to be walking a fragile path of reconciliation with his former godfather.
