Nigeria’s U20 national team, the Flying Eagles, have been knocked out of the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup after suffering a crushing 4-0 defeat to Argentina in the Round of 16 clash on Wednesday night in Santiago, Chile.

The South Americans wasted no time asserting dominance, opening the scoring within the first two minutes of play.

From that moment, Argentina took full control of the game, displaying superior pace, precision, and tactical discipline that left the Nigerian side struggling to find their rhythm.

Carrizo was the star of the match, netting twice to extend Argentina’s lead, while Sarco and Silvetti also found the back of the net to seal a comprehensive victory.

Despite the Flying Eagles’ efforts to fight back, their attempts were repeatedly thwarted by Argentina’s well-organized defense and relentless attacking pressure.

With the result, Nigeria bow out of the tournament while Argentina progress confidently into the quarter-finals, reaffirming their status as one of the tournament favorites.
