Veteran politician and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees member, Chief Bode George, has expressed shock over the defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, George said he had no idea Mbah was planning to dump the PDP, despite continuous efforts by party elders to settle internal disputes.

“I never saw it at any time. In fact, when Anyanwu was brought back as secretary to complete his assignment, he asked his people not to attend meetings,” the PDP chieftain said.

While describing Mbah’s defection as unexpected, George stressed that no governor defines the PDP, noting that the party’s strength lies in its institutions and enduring values, not individuals.

He urged party members to remain focused on unity and rebuilding the PDP ahead of the next election cycle, saying the party’s foundation remains strong despite recent defections.
