The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called off its two-week warning strike, temporarily returning to work while issuing a one-month ultimatum to the Federal Government to fulfill its outstanding commitments.

The union’s decision followed a meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC), where members reviewed progress on their long-standing demands, including improved welfare, university autonomy, and proper funding of public universities.

ASUU warned that if the Federal Government fails to act within the given time frame, it will be left with no choice but to resume a total and indefinite strike.

According to the union, the suspension of the strike demonstrates goodwill and gives the government another opportunity to prove its commitment to addressing the lingering issues affecting the nation’s tertiary education system.
