PDP chieftain, Chief Bode George, has poured out his frustration, revealing that his own children can’t find jobs in Nigeria simply because they bear his name.
Speaking during a live interview on Nigeria Info FM 99.3, the outspoken politician lamented that hunger, anger, and hopelessness have taken over the country.
“Today in Nigeria, everywhere there is hunger and anger. Forget about me being in the PDP, the base of the pyramid is what really matters,” he said.
George, a former military administrator and one of PDP’s founding fathers, said the hardship in the country has reached unbearable levels.
“What have we done to positively impact the generality of Nigerians? There is so much anger in the land and there is so much hunger,” he declared.
He lamented that both graduates and non-graduates are stranded with no jobs or future to look forward to.
“Graduates are floating, no future, no hope; non-graduates are doing nothing. I suggested that Mr. President should set up a special fund to ensure that those guys who didn’t train in any skill can be empowered,” he said.
“Then micro-credit for young graduates who want to do one business or the other,” he added.
Turning his attention to government spending, George faulted recent moves by the First Lady to raise funds for a national library.
“Recently, the First Lady announced that she was going to build a national library and she needed contributions. That fund should have been by the President asking these people in the banks, those who donated N20 billion in two days, to give that money, which will be public money, and process it through good management,” he said.
In a tone filled with emotion, the PDP stalwart revealed how his own children have not been spared by the system.
“The younger generation in this country, including my own children who graduated a long time ago, have returned and tried to get a job, but they can’t get a job because their name is Bode George,” he said.
The veteran politician warned that the nation’s growing joblessness and hunger are dangerous signs that must not be ignored, insisting that true leadership must focus on empowering the people, not enriching the few.
