Donald Trump has reignited global attention on Nigeria’s insecurity, accusing the government of allowing the “mass slaughter” of Christians by radical Islamists.

In a post on his Truth Social account Friday, later shared on the White House’s X handle, the outspoken Republican declared Nigeria a “country of particular concern,” a diplomatic tag reserved for nations accused of gross human rights abuses.

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘country of particular concern,’” Trump declared.

“When Christians, or any such group, are slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide), something must be done!” he thundered.

Trump also ordered US lawmakers to take immediate action. “I am asking Congressman Riley Moore, together with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately look into this matter and report back to me,” he said.

The outspoken Republican leader warned that America would not watch in silence as Christians “are wiped out,” promising support for global believers.

“The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria, and numerous other Countries. We stand ready, willing, and able to save our Great Christian population around the World!” he added.

The controversial declaration, if formalized, could strain diplomatic ties and trigger international debate over Nigeria’s handling of religious conflicts.
