The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced its full readiness for the Anambra State Governorship Election scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 8, 2025, promising a peaceful, transparent, and credible exercise.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, made the declaration during an inspection visit to the commission’s state office in Awka, ahead of the Stakeholders’ Meeting billed for Monday, November 3, 2025.
“Our responsibility is to the people of this nation. We are fully prepared to deliver an election that is fair, credible, and reflective of the people’s will,” Amupitan said.
He called on all stakeholders to support INEC in ensuring a smooth and successful process.
The INEC chairman cautioned against what he described as “attempts by vested interests to discredit the process,” emphasising that the commission remained focused and undeterred in carrying out its constitutional duty.
Providing an operational update, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Anambra State, Dr. Elizabeth Agwu, confirmed that all non-sensitive materials had been distributed across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
She revealed that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System had been fully configured, tested, and deemed ready for deployment.

Both the INEC Chairman and the REC emphasised the importance of collaboration among political parties, security agencies, civil society groups, and the media in ensuring the election’s success.
“We are committed to carrying every stakeholder along in this process. Transparency and partnership remain the bedrock of our credibility,” Professor Amupitan affirmed.
As part of the readiness review, the INEC chairman, accompanied by National Commissioners Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu, Malam Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Professor Abdullahi Zuru, Mr Sam Olumekun, Professor Sami Adam, Dr Baba Bila, and Professor Sunday Aja, inspected INEC offices in Oyi and Awka South Local Government Areas to assess final preparations.
During the tour, Electoral Officers Olivia Nkem and Ozoagu Chinyere (Awka South) conducted the team around their facilities, displaying election materials already sorted for distribution to Registration Areas.
The INEC Chairman issued a directive that all election materials must arrive at polling units by 7:00 a.m., with voting to commence at 8:30 a.m. without delay.
