Presidential aide Daniel Bwala has revealed that President Bola Tinubu and former U.S. President Donald Trump are scheduled to meet soon to address the growing controversy surrounding Trump’s claim of Christian genocide in Nigeria.
Bwala, who serves as Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Communication, said the meeting, which is expected to take place “in the coming days”, will focus on clarifying facts and strengthening cooperation between both nations in the global fight against terrorism.
The comment comes after Trump alleged that the Nigerian government has turned a blind eye to the killing of Christians, a remark that has stirred heated reactions across political and religious circles.
Bwala said both leaders share a firm commitment to defeating insurgency and extremism.
He also noted that Trump had supported Nigeria’s anti-terror war by approving arms sales to the country, weapons that Tinubu’s administration has put to effective use in tackling insecurity.
Addressing the debate on whether terrorists in Nigeria specifically target Christians or attack all faiths, Bwala said such differences in perception would be resolved during the forthcoming meeting, which could hold either at the State House in Abuja or the White House in Washington.
