President Donald Trump has declared that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s tenure is nearing its end, signaling potential new pressure from Washington on the embattled South American leader.

Speaking during a briefing at the White House, President Trump said that “Maduro’s days as President of Venezuela are numbered,” reaffirming his administration’s continued support for democratic change in the region.
Trump emphasized that the United States will stand by the Venezuelan people “until freedom and legitimate governance are restored.” His remarks come amid renewed unrest in Caracas, where opposition groups have reignited calls for fresh elections and an end to Maduro’s socialist rule.

Trump’s statement as a sign of intensified U.S. engagement with regional partners to increase diplomatic and economic pressure on the Maduro government. However, the Venezuelan leadership, backed by allies Russia and Iran, has dismissed Washington’s stance as “imperialist interference.”

The comment marks the strongest language from the Trump administration regarding Venezuela since his reelection in 2024, hinting at a possible recalibration of U.S. foreign policy toward Latin America.
