Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has stirred concern online after sharing a video that appears to show the team’s lodging in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff against Gabon.

Iwobi, who arrived in camp on Sunday alongside teammates Samuel Chukwueze, Calvin Bassey, William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, Tolu Arokodare, and Olakunle Olusegun, is among the early arrivals at the Rive Hotel — the team’s official base.

In the now-viral clip, Iwobi reportedly captured the “modest” condition of the hotel and its surroundings, a move that has triggered debate about player welfare and Nigeria’s readiness for the high-stakes fixture.

Training is set to commence fully on Monday as the squad intensifies preparation for the playoffs.

This incident adds to a growing list of concerns over the Nigeria Football Federation’s handling of team welfare, with several players in the past lamenting poor logistics and accommodation arrangements during international assignments.

Nigeria advanced to the playoff round after finishing second in Group C, sealing their spot with an emphatic 4–0 victory over Benin Republic in Uyo.

The Super Eagles will now take on Gabon in the semifinal stage of the playoffs, with the winner meeting either DR Congo or Cameroon for a place in the intercontinental playoffs in March 2026 — the final step toward qualifying for the FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
