The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announced today the expulsion of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, and nine other prominent members at its national convention in Ibadan.

The decision was made official during the party’s national convention, with the Umar Damagun-led faction citing unspecified party discipline issues for the expulsions. Alongside Wike and Fayose, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Hon. Umar Bature, Adeyemi Ajibade (SAN), Mohammed Abdulrahman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Hon. Austine Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah, George Turner, and Chief Dan Orbih were also expelled.

Party leaders emphasized that the expulsions reflect the party’s resolve to enforce discipline and uphold its internal rules, regardless of seniority or political influence. The move has sparked significant reactions across Nigeria’s political landscape, as many of those expelled were major figures within the PDP and their respective states.
