Bandits unleashed terror on the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, Danko Wasagu area of Kebbi State, in a dawn raid that left the Vice-Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, dead and several female students abducted.
The attackers reportedly swept into the school around 5 am on Monday, catching the community off guard.
Maga, already battered by repeated assaults in recent months, has been thrown into fresh panic.
A resident, Aliyu Yakubu, said the bandits operated without resistance.
“The attack has created panic among residents of Maga. We are now in fear and mourning,” he told Daily Trust.
He added that Principal Makuku was shot while bravely attempting to shield his students.
“He was shot as he tried to protect his students from being taken by the bandits. It’s a great loss for the community and the school,” he said.
As of press time, the police had yet to comment, as calls to the command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, went unanswered.
