Terror has tightened its grip on Zamfara as notorious bandit commander, Kachalla Dan Sa’adiyya, has ordered the people of Gama Giwa and surrounding villages in Maradun to raise a mouth-watering N50 million within one week, or face consequences residents fear to even imagine.
For months, locals say they were dragged into forced labour on the warlord’s vast farmlands, working through the rains like captives and receiving nothing in return.
Now, instead of relief after harvest, villagers are staring at what many describe as another suffocating round of threats, demands and domination.
Security analyst Bakatsine revealed on his X handle that residents claim the brutal mix of unpaid labour and this fresh levy has pushed entire families into deeper fear, hunger and hopelessness.
Locals say they are living under a regime where an armed gang dictates everything; their work, their movement, their farms, even their future.
Villagers, exhausted and cornered, say they can only pray for a day when their lives, dignity and livelihoods are no longer controlled by men with guns.
