The National Executive Council, NEC, of the Labour Party faction led by Julius Abure has reconfirmed its national officers elected at the party’s 2024 national convention in Nnewi, Anambra State.

The development followed a meeting held on Friday at the party’s national secretariat in Utako, Abuja.

This was made known in a statement jointly signed by the factional National Chairman, Julius Abure, and factional National Secretary, Umar Farouk Ibrahim.

According to the statement, the meeting was attended by members of the National Working Committee, state chairmen and secretaries, stakeholders, co-opted NEC members in line with Article 13(A) of the party constitution, and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

In its resolutions, NEC reviewed controversies surrounding the 2024 national convention, ongoing litigations, and INEC’s position on the exercise.

Other reaffirmed officers include the national treasurer, publicity secretary, legal adviser, financial secretary, organising secretary, women leader, and youth leader.

Additionally, NEC empowered the national chairman and national secretary to convene a special convention when necessary.

The council further ratified plans to conduct ward, local government and state congresses across the federation.
