President Bola Tinubu has stirred Abia State politics by nominating Victor Ikeji to replace Obinna Oriaku as the Federal Character Commission commissioner.
The move was revealed Thursday in plenary when Senate President Godswill Akpabio read out Tinubu’s letter, citing Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) as the legal backing.
The President urged the Senate to “consider and confirm the appointment of Victor Ikeji as commissioner of the Federal Character Commission.”
Akpabio wasted no time, referring the nomination to the Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Relations, with a tight one-week deadline to report back.
