Shockwaves hit Rivers politics as Speaker Martins Amaewhule led 16 House of Assembly members out of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) straight into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday.
Amaewhule surprised colleagues during plenary, announcing his defection alongside the lawmakers.
“This move reflects our commitment to a new political direction and alignment with the principles of the APC,” he said.
The dramatic exit is a major power shift in the state, leaving the PDP scrambling to regroup ahead of upcoming political battles.
