Abia 2027 governorship hopeful and influential businessman, Sir Mascot Uzor-Kalu, has reaffirmed his people-first political ideology, declaring that his quest for public office is driven solely by a burning desire to serve.

During an interactive session with journalists on Friday, the former Chief of Staff laid out his blueprint for leadership, describing genuine service to humanity as the foundation of any meaningful public office.

Kalu stressed that leadership must be sincere, people-rooted, and driven by the real needs of ordinary citizens, especially in a state yearning for responsive governance.

“Service to the people is my driving force. It is what inspires every decision I make,” he said.

“Leadership, to me, is not about occupying an office. It is about touching lives and ensuring that communities grow,” Kalu added.

He explained that his deep experience in both business and public administration gives him firsthand insight into the struggles faced daily by Abians.

According to him, governance must be practical, people-centred, and anchored on clear plans that speak directly to citizens’ needs.

“When you live among the people, when you interact with them daily, you understand their pains. That is why I believe governance must be accessible, responsive, and transparent,” he stated.

Kalu expressed concern over high rate of unemployment, decaying infrastructure, and the lack of opportunities stifling Abia’s vibrant youth population.

“We have intelligent young people across Abia who are ready to work and ready to innovate. All they need is access to opportunities,” he said.

“My focus is to create an environment where their dreams can flourish.”

He further stressed the importance of trust in leadership, insisting that leaders must embody honesty, accountability, and transparency in handling public resources.

“The people deserve leaders they can trust. When you say something, you should be able to stand by it. When public funds are entrusted to you, you must handle them with transparency and care.”

Kalu made it clear that his ambition is driven not by personal gain but by a vision for a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous Abia.

“I am committed to working for an Abia that works for everyone. Every community, every youth, every woman, every hardworking citizen deserves a government that listens,” he declared.

Closing his remarks, Kalu, known for his political pacification, made a rallying call for unity across the state.

“We must work together to build the state of our dreams. Service to the people will always remain my guiding principle, and I will continue to stand for what is right, just, and beneficial to our people,” he said.
