Vice president of the Egyptian Football Association, (EFA) Khaled El-Darandaly has announced a new date for the international friendly between the Pharaohs and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The pre-2025 Africa Cup of Nations friendly which was earlier scheduled to hold on Sunday, 14 December will now take place on Tuesday, 16 December, El-Darandaly confirmed to Egyptian website, Ahram.

The match was moved to ensure the availability of players following FIFA’s decision to shift the release date of players for the AFCON.

It will hold at the Cairo International Stadium.

FIFA earlier this week mandated clubs to release players just one week before the start of the competition.

The decision has disrupted the plans of majority of the 24 participating countries.

The AFCON 2025 finals will run from 21 December to 18 January, 2026 in Morocco.
