Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has declared that the nation is on the brink of unprecedented prosperity, predicting with boldness that “by 2026, Nigeria will be lending to other nations.”
She stated this in Ile-Ife, Osun State, shortly after receiving the chieftaincy title of Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua during the 10th coronation anniversary of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, an event packed with former and serving leaders, traditional rulers, and influential personalities.
Dignitaries in attendance included ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo; Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President; former First Lady Patience Jonathan; Governors Ademola Adeleke, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Dapo Abiodun; former Speaker Dimeji Bankole; former Ogun Governor Ibikunle Amosun; and several deputy governors and lawmakers.
Also present were top traditional rulers such as the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar; the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III; the Orangun of Ila, Oba Abdulwahab Oyedotun; and the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye.
Expressing gratitude for the honour bestowed upon her, Mrs Tinubu told the crowd that, “Nigeria’s joy has come; those wondering how we want to do it, we will show them how things are being done. By 2026, Nigeria will be in prosperity; we will be lending to other nations.”
She added that the Tinubu administration would achieve feats that would leave many wondering “how he has been able to achieve such milestone.”
Earlier, the Ooni praised Oluremi Tinubu’s long-standing support for the throne and acknowledged the steady backing of former President Obasanjo.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, also prayed for the Ooni and urged Nigerians to pray for their leaders.
Governor Ademola Adeleke hailed Oba Ogunwusi for redefining Yoruba royalty with modern influence and global reach. He noted that the Osun State Government is aligning with the Ooni’s cultural vision, citing major infrastructure upgrades in Ile-Ife, including the state’s first-ever flyover nearing completion.
