
The ECOWAS Parliament has praised Nigeria’s swift intervention in the Republic of Benin, applauding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decisive action aimed at restoring democratic governance in the neighboring country.
Delivering the parliament’s resolution, Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament and Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, expressed strong support for Nigeria’s leadership role within the regional bloc. He noted that the intervention was guided by a commitment to peace, stability, and the protection of democratic values across West Africa.
Jibrin emphasized that Nigeria acted in the best interest of the region, reaffirming President Tinubu’s position as ECOWAS Chairman and the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regional cooperation and democratic resilience.
The commendation underscores growing recognition of Nigeria’s influence in regional peace initiatives and its central role in addressing governance and security challenges within the ECOWAS subregion.
