Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has clapped back at critics who mock his well-known love for dancing, declaring that no amount of ridicule will stop him from expressing himself or delivering on his mandate.

Adeleke, famously called the “dancing governor,” has faced years of attacks from opponents who claim his energetic dance steps reflect a lack of seriousness.

But the governor, now flying the Accord Party’s flag ahead of the 2026 election, insists his hobby has nothing to do with his competence.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, he dismissed the controversy as baseless.

“I will keep dancing because I love to dance, I love to praise my God, and that doesn’t change anything. So, I will still dance, praise my God, and do my work.”

The governor added that everyone has a personal way of relaxing.

“Everyone has their own way of relaxing. My hobby is to dance and praise my God. That doesn’t affect my work.”

Adeleke dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday and immediately emerged as the Accord Party’s candidate for the August 8, 2026 governorship poll.

He said the switch was necessary to protect his reforms and ensure continuity.

“Thank you, Osun people. To ensure continuity and the long-term sustainability of our people-centered governance agenda beyond 2026, we have taken the bold step of moving to the Accord Party,” he said.

“This decision is driven by our commitment to protect the progress we have made together and to secure a stronger future for our dear state.”

He expressed appreciation to residents for their unwavering support and vowed to consolidate his achievements.

“I deeply appreciate your love, trust, and consistent support for my administration. With your continued backing, we will consolidate our achievements, expand the impact of good governance, and keep delivering the dividends of democracy to every community across Osun State.”
