President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the transfer of major economic oversight functions from the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, to the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, in a move aimed at strengthening domestic fiscal management and accountability.

According to a reliable source, the President’s directive expands Uzoka-Anite’s portfolio significantly, granting her direct control over critical aspects of the nation’s economic administration. The new mandate places her in charge of domestic revenue generation, revenue distribution, and the management of all domestic debt obligations.

Additionally, her office will now oversee Home Finance, Technical Services, Cash Management, and the coordination of revenue sharing among the tiers of government and the Federation Account. Notably, the Nigerian Customs Service and Development Finance functions have also been moved under her supervision.

The development, insiders say, reflects President Tinubu’s renewed focus on improving fiscal performance, enhancing intergovernmental financial coordination, and ensuring transparency in Nigeria’s revenue ecosystem. It marks one of the most significant administrative adjustments within the Finance Ministry since the beginning of the Tinubu administration.
