Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has openly reaffirmed his loyalty to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, while firmly dismissing rumours that he is planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking during a television interview, Fayose said the internal crisis rocking the PDP would not push him into the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting his political stance remains unchanged.

He took a swipe at Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, accusing him of abusing power and crippling the PDP across the South-West. Fayose alleged that many party loyalists who worked for Makinde’s emergence had been sidelined, while core party structures were weakened.

“Almost everybody who worked for his ascension has been driven away,” he said, claiming further that strategic state assets had been taken over under Makinde’s administration. According to him, the Oyo governor had “destroyed all PDP structures in the South-West.”

The former governor also raised concerns about internal party dealings in Osun State, alleging that a candidate who did not purchase nomination forms eventually emerged as the PDP flag bearer, a situation he said undermined internal democracy. He further alleged that he was attacked during a political event in the state, insisting that Makinde was responsible.

Presenting himself as a politically independent figure, Fayose said his rise to power was not backed by any political godfather.

“I fought my governorship without a godfather,” he said.

Declaring where his loyalty lies, Fayose stated emphatically: “I’m a Wike person. Anywhere Wike is, that is where I am.”

Despite his sharp criticism of party actors, Fayose maintained that he remains in the PDP and has no intention of crossing over to the ruling party, stressing that he “will never join the APC.”
