President Donald Trump has debuted a striking renovation of the White House Palm Room, replacing its informal garden lounge look with a gleaming white marble lobby and ornate chandelier that he has branded the “new lobby leading to the Oval Office.”

The Palm Room, sometimes called the West Garden Room, has long served as a transitional space connecting the front of the White House to the Rose Garden and West Colonnade, historically furnished with potted plants, trees, green or gray tile flooring, and benches that emphasized its garden character. In newly released images, those softer elements have disappeared, replaced by a stark white interior, a large chandelier, and white marble floors that visually extend toward Trump’s redesigned outdoor terrace in the Rose Garden.

Trump amplified the reveal by reposting a visitor’s photo on his social network media account with the caption, “New lobby leading to Oval Office — Magnificent marble floor, compliments of President Donald J. Trump!” signaling personal ownership of the aesthetic shift. The photo showed the room largely unfurnished, leaving open questions about whether any greenery or seating will return or whether the space will function primarily as a grand, hotel-style corridor framing views of the Rose Garden and the new “Rose Garden Club” terrace.

The Palm Room overhaul is part of a wider campaign to refashion both the interior and exterior of the White House, including paving over much of the Rose Garden lawn to create a hardscape event terrace with striped umbrellas and club-style seating. Sources familiar with the first family’s plans say the renovations, along with a planned large-scale ballroom project, are intended to bring the look and feel of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort to Washington, blending presidential tradition with a more overtly luxurious, hospitality-driven design language.
