Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, on Saturday marked his 72nd birthday with a thanksgiving service at St. John the Baptist Cathedral, Gboko, Benue State, making his first public appearance with his new wife, Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh.
The appearance came barely 24 hours after a member of the Akume family reportedly confirmed the marriage, sparking public interest around the SGF’s private life.
Beyond the personal milestone, the thanksgiving service also served as a platform for Akume to restate his views on governance and national development.
In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen, the SGF emphasised the importance of cooperation across all levels of government.
According to the statement, Akume stressed that “accountability among the three tiers of government” remains critical to sustainable development in the country.
He further noted that “national development is a collective responsibility, requiring the synergy of all three tiers of government.”
The event drew political associates, family members and well-wishers, blending celebration with a renewed call for responsible leadership and collaborative governance.
