The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has unequivocally declared that the Southeast will deliver massive votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election, saying the era of emotional politics in the region is over.
Speaking at his country home in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, while receiving political, religious, and community groups on Christmas homage, Umahi said the Southeast has learned hard lessons and will now pursue its interests through strategy, unity, and engagement with the centre.
“You ask me what the President has done for the Southeast, and I will tell you what he has done for the Southeast,” Umahi said, pointing to key federal projects as proof that the region is no longer sidelined.
He listed the Second Niger Bridge, the Enugu–Onitsha (Nnewi) Road, and the Owerri–Aba Road as game-changing projects, describing them as the real dividends of inclusion.
“The road to Onitsha is Biafra. The Second Niger Bridge is Biafra. These are the Biafra we are looking for — not the Biafra of sentiments or social media,” he stressed.
Umahi warned that undermining Nigeria would only hurt the Southeast, noting that progress can only come through wisdom and political calculation, not confrontation.
He also advised Southeast residents across the country to respect the laws and traditions of their host communities, urging them to be humble, courageous, and law-abiding.
“Our votes will not be wasted on sentiments again. The Southeast will be strategic, and the Southeast will vote massively for President Tinubu,” Umahi declared, indicating there could be a major political realignment ahead of 2027.
