Super Falcons star Ashleigh Plumptre has officially launched her much-anticipated passion project, the “Put A Foot In Africa Football Camps & Workshop,” with a high-energy opening day at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). The two-day activation, running January 2–3, 2026, aims to bridge elite football coaching with critical athlete welfare and safety education for young Nigerian players.
Empowering Talent on the Pitch
Day 1 focused on providing free, professional football sessions to girls in the local community. These sessions are led by coaches from Plumptre’s own club, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad FC, ensuring participants aged 9–16 receive world-class technical training.
The program is designed not only to sharpen on-field skills but also to help athletes identify their unique personal strengths and foster deep connections with their teammates.
Vital Advocacy in the Classroom
A cornerstone of the initiative is its holistic approach to athlete development. Beyond physical training, participants attended an essential workshop titled “Sports Tr*fficking & Agent Support”.
Delivered by Mission 89, a global organization dedicated to combating child tr*fficking in sports, the workshop provided players with the tools to identify predatory recruitment and navigate their careers safely.
Plumptre, a global ambassador for Mission 89, emphasized that the project is “about more than just football,” focusing instead on protecting the future of African talent from exploitation.
