Wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Mrs. Regina Akume, has broken her silence in an emotional fashion, publicly declaring that her marriage remains intact despite the swirl of public commentary around her family.
In a now-viral video recorded during a New Year Mass, the lawmaker representing Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency spoke with emotion and firmness, pointing to members of her family seated in the congregation as proof of unity.
“I want to tell the world that I still love Mr. George (Akume). He is my husband,” she said.
“That is his son sitting there, and that is also his daughter,” she added, mentioning their names.
Shutting down speculations, she declared emphatically,
“That is my man and that is my husband. I have no other husband but him. I do not care what the world says,” a statement that drew loud applause inside the church.
Mrs. Akume also used the moment to share a powerful testimony, revealing that she recently battled a serious health challenge but has now fully recovered.
“I thank God for granting me healing and making me healthy again,” she said.
Reaffirming her faith, she praised God as supreme over all powers.
“He is the Almighty Father. There is none like Him, and there is no power that is above His power,” she declared.
She further reminded worshippers of the foundation of the Christian faith.
“There is no sacrifice anybody can offer that is above the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus on the cross,” she said.
Her emotional declaration has since stirred conversations across political and social circles, coming amid widespread public interest in the Akume family following reports that the SGF had taken another wife.
