Rivers politics just got more scorching as FCT Minister Nyesom Wike warned APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru to back off and stop meddling in the state’s affairs!

Speaking during a thank-you visit to Oyigbo LGA on Monday, Wike slammed those he says are speaking recklessly about Rivers, blaming the N600 billion reportedly left in the state coffers for fueling bold claims.

The warning comes after Basiru condemned APC Vice Chairman (South-South) Victor Giadom, who called Governor Siminalayi Fubara “the so-called Governor” and hinted he couldn’t win a second term without Wike’s influence.

Basiru had said:
‘’I find it unfortunate that a member of the NWC, who is the Vice Chairman of the South-South zone of the APC, was referring to a governor in our party as a ‘so-called governor of Rivers State’. No matter what his allegiances are to anybody, it is unbecoming of somebody holding such a sensitive position, and it should not be encouraged by anybody.’’

Wike fired back, telling Basiru in no uncertain terms to leave Rivers alone, warning that the state is a “no-go area” for political interference.

He added that those who ignore the warning “will face serious consequences,” urging the APC secretary to learn from the fate of others who dared challenge Rivers politics.
