The political crisis in Rivers State took a dramatic twist on Friday as four members of the House of Assembly sensationally reversed their earlier position and reaffirmed their support for the impeachment process against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.

The lawmakers announced their decision during a press conference in Port Harcourt, the state capital, marking a sharp turn in the unfolding political crisis rocking the state legislature.

According to them, their renewed backing for the impeachment move was driven by what they described as the governor’s failure to show remorse over the allegations brought against him by the assembly.

They insisted that developments so far have only strengthened their resolve to continue with the impeachment process, signalling fresh momentum for the move against the governor and his deputy.

The latest twist adds to the growing uncertainty surrounding the political future of the Rivers State administration, with more fallout expected in the coming days.
