Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has been remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre following her arraignment over alleged cyber-related offences.
Okorie was arrested in Lagos on Tuesday by operatives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department.
Confirming the development on Wednesday, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, told TheCable Lifestyle that the actress was taken into custody by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja.
Filmmaker Ajemba Stanley also confirmed that Okorie was charged to court on Wednesday and subsequently remanded.
In a series of social media posts, Stanley criticised the process, describing it as an abuse of power.
“You arrested Angela Okorie at midnight yesterday, flew her to Abuja as early as 6am, and this morning took her to court, where she was remanded in Suleja prison,” he wrote.
“So the judiciary can work this fast? Tell me how you will sleep tonight knowing fully well that your colleague is in prison,” Stanley added.
